BUILD Financial Literacy Program for Youth

Vermont Village Community Development Corporation (VVCDC) is a trusted, community-rooted organization dedicated to strengthening families and expanding opportunity in South Los Angeles. The BUILD Financial Literacy Program for Youth advances this mission by equipping young people with essential money skills early in life.

Designed for elementary and middle school students, BUILD uses hands-on activities, games, and real-life simulations to teach saving, budgeting, earning, and smart decision-making. The program builds confidence and healthy financial habits that support long-term success.

How BUILD Advances VVCDC’s Mission
  • Family-Centered Impact: Family Financial Fun Nights engage parents and caregivers, reinforcing shared financial practices at home.

  • Youth Empowerment: Financial literacy strengthens academic readiness and future career pathways.

  • Economic Stability: Early education helps prevent future hardship and supports generational wealth-building.

  • Accessible & Trusted: Delivered in schools and community spaces families already rely on.

With funder support, VVCDC delivers a high-quality, culturally responsive program that strengthens families and builds a more resilient Vermont Village—one child and one household at a time.

Why This Program Matters

Many young people and families lack access to meaningful financial education. Support for the BUILD Financial Literacy Program allows VVCDC to close that gap—delivering high-quality, community-centered programming that strengthens families today while building a more resilient, economically empowered Vermont Village for tomorrow.

Through BUILD, VVCDC is helping young people develop the skills, habits, and confidence they need to shape brighter futures—one child, one family, and one neighborhood at a time.
