Inspiring the Next Generation of Innovators

Mount Sinai’s STEM Camp is a dynamic summer program designed to spark curiosity and expand opportunities for African American and Latino youth ages 10–17. With a special focus on increasing participation among boys, the camp blends hands-on STEM learning, real-world career exposure, and entrepreneurial challenges that build confidence and critical thinking.

Hosted this year at New Revelation Church in Pasadena, the expanded space allows more students to participate in interactive workshops, design challenges, and team-based projects. Industry partners — including volunteers from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) — bring professional expertise directly to youth, helping them imagine themselves in STEM careers.

Inspiring the Next Generation of Innovators

Mount Sinai’s STEM Camp is a community-powered summer initiative designed to spark curiosity, confidence, and possibility for African American and Latino youth ages 10–17. With a deliberate focus on increasing participation among boys—who are often underrepresented in STEM pathways—the program blends hands-on learning, real-world career exposure, and entrepreneurial thinking to help students see themselves as future innovators, builders, and problem-solvers.

Hosted this year at New Revelation Church in Pasadena, the expanded space allowed Mount Sinai to welcome more students into an immersive learning environment filled with interactive workshops, design challenges, and collaborative, team-based projects. Youth didn’t just learn about STEM—they experienced it.

What the Program Offers

Mount Sinai’s STEM Camp is intentionally designed to be engaging, accessible, and future-focused. Participants benefit from:

  • Hands-on STEM lessons that encourage creativity, experimentation, and critical thinking

  • Exposure to architecture, engineering, technology, and business concepts, connecting classroom learning to real-world careers

  • Industry mentorship, including volunteers from the American Institute of Architects (AIA), who bring professional insight directly to students

  • A culminating entrepreneurship challenge, where students develop and pitch their own STEM-based business ideas

  • A low-cost program model that keeps the camp accessible while encouraging family investment and commitment

This combination of technical learning and entrepreneurial mindset helps students build both skills and confidence.

Community-Rooted and Responsive

Mount Sinai’s impact extends beyond the classroom. Prior to launching the STEM Camp, the organization provided emergency support to more than 30 families displaced by local fires—offering aid, stability, and care during a critical moment. This deep, responsive engagement strengthened community trust and laid the groundwork for strong outreach, partnerships, and participation in the camp.

The STEM Camp is not a standalone program—it is part of Mount Sinai’s broader commitment to meeting community needs and investing in long-term opportunity.

Why it Matters

Mount Sinai’s STEM Camp is building a pathway for youth of color to explore STEM with confidence, creativity, and community support. By combining academic enrichment, industry partnerships, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy, the program creates long-term educational and economic opportunity—not just for students, but for families across the region.

This is more than a summer camp. It’s an investment in future leaders, innovators, and change-makers.
